For starters, I am an Irish immigrant that arrived on the shores of Philadelphia on July 4th, 1988.
I point this out because I am very familiar with the challenges associated with immigrating to America.
For the past few years I have been tinkering around with the idea of creating an “Irish Immigrant’s Legal Handbook,” which would include basic, yet vital legal information pertaining to Immigration Law, Criminal Law, Real Estate Law, Landlord Tenant Law, Civil Procedure, Constitutional Law and Bankruptcy Law.
Educating Irish immigrants with the requisite knowledge of American laws to protect themselves and their families from scrupulous individuals bent on taking advantage of their lack of understanding of American law seems like a very important issue that needs to be addressed.
I figure the best place to start is to ask the question, “What would an Irish Immigrant like to know about the American Legal System?” I’ve outlined several legal topics above but I would like to take a survey of what Irish Immigrants think about the matter.
The topic for the discussion is “What do you think?” Feel free to share your opinion!
Go raibh maith agat.
