Teaching the music

When I teach the music I use the written tune and the tape recorder. I have a student from the school of dots and I encourage her to listen more although we use sheet music because she is most familiar with this and it helps her progress. I have another with a fantastic ear so much is done on tape. I also am using music with him because I know it is a must for when he wants to expand his repertoire. The whole thing between ears and dots depends on the need of the learner but both should eventually come into play. Peace.

I started learning the dots as a child on piano. Learning to play by ear took some work and has now become the easiest way. I felt like I was cheating or going backwards by using the dots. The truth is that learning is a challenge for an adult and it is best to use all the tools available. I need them!!
